New York-bred producer Blockhead is up with Bubble Bath, a follow-up to this year’s Free Sweatpants album featuring MCs such as Aesop Rock and Open Mike Eagle.
But like most of his vast collection, Bubble Bath is soaking up 12 pieces of instrumental serenity.
As Blockhead reveals that, he’s set out to make an album that’s designed to appreciate in the warmth of a bathtub— whether it’s for soothing or slitting the wrists. The names come from inside stories or just the feeling that the music brings me. So, I take an idea and build on it until it’s an abstract idea of that original idea.
“As for making this album, making instrumental albums are nothing new to me. It’s just back to that mindset. Working with rappers is easier and more laid back.
Blockhead’s remarkable collection started in 2004 with Music Through Cavelight. Across the road, he contributed to the production of several songs through Aesop Rock, including “Fumes” and “Coffee” from Aes ‘ 2007 None Shall Pass collection.
