Part of the famous Balogun market in the state of Lagos was destroyed by fire in the early hours of Tuesday.
The PUNCH discovered that the men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and the Lagos State Fire Service had been dispatched to clear the inferno.
Many businessmen, our journalists learned, had been struggling to rescue some of their goods from a burning building.
The trigger of the fire and the extent of the damage had yet to be determined by the time of the press.
The spokesmen for LASEMA and the Fire Department, Nosa Okubor and Adeleke Ashimi, reported the incident.
Furthermore, Ashimi appended that another complex on Dosumu Street, some 500 meters from Martin Street, was also on fire.
“Our men are on their way there as well. We don’t know the extent of the fire yet,” she added.
